Run Diva at the Chilly Willy duathlon
Yesterday I competed in my second duathlon. The Chilly Willy could be done as either a sprint duathlon or a sprint triathlon. I did the duathlon option, which was a 1.65 mile run, 11 mile bike, 1.65 mile run. I completed in the race in a time of 1:13:09 which was good enough to win my age group - SWEET!
The Chilly Willy took place at CB Smith Park in Pembroke Pines, FL. It was about a 45 minute drive from my house to CB Smith Park, so I got up at 4:30 AM so I could leave the house by 5 AM. Got down to the park just a few minutes before 6. Glad I didn't get lost driving in the dark. Took the Turnpike, to the Sawgrass Expressway to I-75 to Pines Blvd. 94 mile round trip, that's a lot of driving.
The weather was a bit warmer than I expected. It was already 63 degrees when I left the house at 5 AM. By the time the race started at 7 AM, it was almost a bit too warm for my comfort, and the hummidity was pretty high.
Run Diva cycling at the Chilly Willy duathlon
I have been battling this nasty bronchitis/fever for the past 2 weeks. I haven't done much training during this time, and was still having a bit of breathing difficulty. Even so, my minute per mile run time was a bit faster than the first duathlon I did back on February 8, the Duathlon Season Opener, when I wasn't sick. I guess even amateur athletes learn to race in pain, and I always feel a bit competitive on race days, compared to a regular training day.
Tradition Town Center Duathlon
I think I'll be doing my next duathlon 2 weeks from now. That will be the Tradition Town Center duathlon all the way up in Port St. Lucie. That's about 70 miles from my house, I'll have to get up at around 4 AM to do that race. I won't be picking up my race packet the day before the race, like I have done on the other duathlons. That's too much freaking driving. Luckily these events let you pick up your race packet the day of the race.

West Palm Beach Race Series
My next race event is Sunday, March 8 at the West Palm Beach Race Series. I'll be competing in a 15K time trial. But I'll be posting up the details of that race on my Bike Diva site, since it's a cycling event.
