I had to post this press release after reading it. I grew up in Lake Placid - 1981 graduate of Lake Placid Central High School. Lake Placid is a beautiful small town, in the heart of the Adirondack Mountains in upstate New York.
PRESS RELEASE
Who Says You Can't Guarantee the Weather? High Peaks Resort in Lake Placid Makes Two Guarantees
LAKE PLACID, N.Y., March 31 /PRNewswire/ -- Springtime in the
Adirondacks is always a great time of year to visit the nation's
largest park, but with one caveat: the weather, which can be
unpredictable. That's why even though you can't actually "guarantee the
weather," Lake Placid's High Peaks Resort is doing just that with its
new "Guarantee the Weather" package, good through May 31, 2009.
With Guarantee the Weather, guests can plan a short two-day escape
where the lower the temperature, the better the deal! With their first
night's stay, they receive the resort's already attractive spring rate;
their guarantee for the second night is an even better value with the
high temperature from the first day setting the rate.
"A 60 degree sunny day in Lake Placid is fabulous - you can take
advantage of the area's numerous activities including hiking, fishing,
sightseeing and shopping," says John Dodson, General Manager of High
Peaks Resort. "But if the weather is less cooperative and cooler, it
will work to your advantage because the high temperature that day will
be your rate for the second night of your stay."
High Peaks also has another guarantee - this one for golfers. With
the weekday "Golf Guarantee" package, golfers who are unable to play
their rounds due to the weather or adverse conditions can take a
mulligan and receive a rain check to return to the resort anytime
during 2009 to get in their 18 holes.
1. Following are package details:
-- Guarantee the Weather includes a two night stay with deluxe
accommodations and breakfast each morning in Dancing Bears restaurant.
The high temperature from the previous day will be posted daily at the
front desk; the price of the second night will be adjusted at time of
check-out. Guarantee the Weather is available through May 31, 2009.
-- Golf Guarantee includes deluxe accommodations, 18 holes of golf each
day and all-American breakfast each morning. Golfers can choose from
the historic Craig Wood course, Links and Mountain courses at Lake
Placid Resort, Saranac Inn Golf and Country Club, and Whiteface Club
and Resort. If courses are closed due to weather or conditions,
guests receive golf passes and equal room value for each occupied room
to apply towards a stay at a later date. Golf Guarantee is available
weekdays through May 31, 2009.
To take advantage of either promotion, contact High Peaks Resort at
518-523-4411, toll-free at 800-755-5598 and mention WEATHER or GOLF
GUARANTEE, or visit www.highpeaksresort.com. Both packages are based on
availability. Tax and service fees are additional, and certain blackout
dates may apply. Cannot be combined with any other specials or
promotions, and does not apply to suites or Mirror Lake Collection. For
the Golf Guarantee, passes and room value expire Oct. 31, 2009.
